Leticia Gomes is a Brazilian American interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago.

As an interdisciplinary artist, I work with discarded objects from everyday life, objects often stripped of value and visibility. My intention is to imbue them with meaning, reinvent their place in the world, and offer them a new future.

My work begins with collecting. These objects are connected to my family, my memories, and my inner life.

My studio is my whole home. My perspective as a woman—and specifically as a mother, often at home and out of sight—shapes my practice and becomes part of the work itself.

From there, I move into assemblage, photography, video, and other forms that allow these found materials to take on new expression, new meaning, and renewed value, not only for the objects, but also for myself.

They come with a past. I reframe them in the present, toward the future.
